Some projects are about square footage.
Others are about what happens inside the space.

This brand-new hunting cabin in Pocahontas was built with a clear vision from day one. Not just as a place to sleep after a long day outdoors, but as a legacy cabin. A place where family and friends would gather. Where traditions would be passed down. Where stories would get better every time they were told.

And when it came time to finish the floors, the owner wanted more than “nice.”
He wanted something memorable.

“This place needs a wow factor,” he told us.
“Every room should feel intentional.”

First Ones In: Setting the Tone for the Cabin

The slab was only a few months old.
The walls were up.
Electrical and HVAC were freshly installed.

We were the first trade back into the space once the shell was complete. Which meant one thing: the floors were going to set the tone for everything that followed.

And they needed to do more than just hold up muddy boots.

Different Rooms. Different Stories.

Rather than one uniform look throughout the cabin, the owner wanted each space to have its own personality, while still feeling cohesive.

That’s where custom work shines!

Bedrooms & Utility Room: Rugged, Warm, and Built to Last

For the bedrooms and utility room, we created a custom chip floor blend designed to feel grounded, durable, and comfortable. Perfect for a cabin environment.

The look was clean and welcoming without being flashy. Tough enough for gear, boots, and traffic… but warm enough to feel like a place you actually want to relax after a long day.

Function meets comfort.

Bathroom: Like Standing Beside a Waterfall

Then came the bathroom.

The owner had one request:

“I want it to look like water.”

So we built it.

Using a metallic coating system with layered blues and whites, we created a flowing surface that feels like a waterfall frozen in motion. Light dances across it. Depth shifts as you move.

It’s the kind of floor that makes guests stop mid-sentence and say,
“Wait… is that the floor?”

Yes. Yes it is.

Main Room: Knotted Wood, Reimagined in Metallic

The heart of the cabin needed something special.

The owner wanted the main gathering space to feel bold, organic, and unforgettable. Almost like the swirling grain of a massive knotted log.

To achieve that, we used a metallic system combining Shipwreck, Tiki, black, and white, layered and manipulated to create movement, contrast, and depth.

The result?
A floor that looks alive.

Every angle reveals something new. It anchors the space without overpowering it, and becomes a conversation starter before the fire even gets going.

The Moment of Truth

When the floors were finished, the owner walked back in to have a look. There was a pause, followed by a grin.

“That looks awesome. Beautiful!”

That’s the moment we aim for every time.

Because floors like these don’t just finish a space, they become part of the memories.
